Back in Norway in the late 1980s, due to strict societal pressures and changing social climes... Norwegian Black metal was invented by a band called Mayhem. This band was fronted by Oystein Aarseth... who also came to be known as Euronymous in the band.

Between Euronymous, and the other two band members at the time, "Hellhammer" and "Dead", they forged a new sound, that was more extreme than anything that the world had ever seen... also with this came extreme expression, such as cutting themselves onstage and having pig heads on stakes at their concerts... they also used "corpsepaint" to paint their faces.

anyway... Dead was a very sombre and depressed person, despite his extremeness on the stage... and he grew to hate his former friend Euronymous... so, he blew his brains out with Euronymous's shotgun on night when he was alone in their shared house. Euronymous was the first to discover this, as they had only one house key, which Dead had, and he had to climb in through the window... which the only one open was the one to Dead's room. He discovered Dead sitting on his bed, with half his head blown open, bits of brain and skull splattered all over the room, and the undamaged part of Dead's brain had fallen out of his skull and into his lap.

Dead, ran out to the nearest store, got a camera, took pictures, then called the police.
