What was the first album you purchased that introduced you to the wonderful world of metal? Mine was Meshuggah's "Catch Thirty-Three". A brutal introduction for a n00b like me, it even almost turned me off to the genre because of its amelodic, destructive sound, but it grew on me and desensitized me to heaviness, thus leading me into other metal like System of a Down and Avenged Sevenfold.

When I was like 3 I would sing along with Danzig's Under her Black Wings. Then later on I found my uncles G'n'R and Black Sabbath cds. I never really made any purchases.

Let me also clarify that this was a year and a half ago when I didn't know jack shit about metal. Since then my tastes have moved on to actual metal. SOAD & A7X were just part of the transitioning phase.

Perhaps not...but I like to think that I appreciate it and are not one of those "dude this shit sux i hate that new *insert band name* album they sold out", instead appreciating it for what it is. I have also garnered a vast knowledge of its history and its different genres that surpass many a metalhead.
