Stupid fucking product, stupid fucking music, cant believe some people actually dig this . When people call this "rap" or "hiphop" it hurts my balls, its like saying that crabcore its actually metal or something.

And just for the sake of saving the thread selfrespect.

Public Enemy is amazing.

Die Antwoord are a satirical post-ironic band. They are like Borat, only he actually got the tats on purpose and he never breaks character.

The main rapper said he is really like Clerk Kent. Only he never takes his superman suit off.

I mean who in the super macho world of rap, has a ton of giant cocks in their debut video? haha

It's taking the piss of how awful rap music has become, but putting a South African filter on it, where they get the CD's 10 years later, and the fashion is the same.

Also, you can't fake his love for the game. I fkn love it, musically as well as the art/undercurrent etc.

I know they are taking the piss on how awful rap music has become , i just cant understand why they decide to make it more awful.
If they are taking a piss , at least do it with good music, this shit is talentless

I disagree.

Diplo is about as cool as it gets when it comes to rave/rap/dance.

Ninja's machine gun rap at the end is not exactly easy.

The song looks retarded on the surface, but it's about tribesmen who don't regard you as a man until they take you out into the bush on your 18th birthday and circumcise you (no anesthetic) and rub ash on the wound. So the kid is saying he does not want to be a man. Evil Boy for life.

I like all kinds of music including rap/hip hop and this is just shitty. I can't even see them getting a hit based on it being a joke.

Thank you! I'm a hip hop fan and I don't get them either. I think a lot of non-hip hop guys get on with Die Antwoord because it's so unintentionally (or, perhaps, intentionally) tongue-n-cheek that it takes the piss out of a very polished, yet stale pop-music genre. Frankly, though, it's grating and terrible music. :yuk:

Problem is, this probably will hit, and underground hip hop acts that are worth their salt like dälek, EL-P, Aesop Rock, P.O.S, Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Sage Francis, etc. will still be continue to overshadowed.

For some reason... I respect this.

Huh? I can understand how you can respect that weird looking dude from youtube that seems to be with them and how he is trying to show himself to people.

But that ,,music,, is pure garbage, how can you even remotely respect that. Especially that main rapping douche and his VERY mature lyrics about himself? He seems like such a tool really...

Why dont you just crawl back in the hole you came from? :)

I genuinely love the music. I just got into writing beats etc myself and am a jaded bastard. I did this using the same pedal the guys from Orgy used to get that SS uber fizz:

A lot of my stuff is darker though:

I love more cyberpunk stuff like Rabbit junk, Angelspit etc. I also love Aphex Twin and they just did a show with Die Antwoord.

Even though I was a metalhead, I went clubbing when rave/dance was at its peak in the UK. And DJ hiteks vibe (because it is dated) takes you back there.

Some of his raps are SO dated it's hilarious. One min he says "Pump up the volume", the next he is claiming they are "futuristic".

The rapping delivery IMO is excelent. Not top top tier, but he has so many gears. He he was respected in the underground in a previous persona, Max Normal:

He actually decided to dumb it down after watching a music production video where the producer was telling a band (I think it was Blondie) in the studio to stop writing "clever little songs" that the audience can't relate to.

So he became a caricature of himself. Instead of his previous more thoughtful/funny stuff, he went full on extreme in every direction. Full on chav wigger street.

He names for it:

Full flex.
Very fancy.
Zef.

A lot of the top music mags think he is a genius. I agree. He's been covered in everything from NY times arts section to being the best new act for Los Angeles Times.

When people started finding out he wasn't for real, the mass consensus from the music mags were "We don't care, just don't stop"

They are the metal version of Bad News, only they NEVER drop character.

I still don't get how people fail to see that these guys are a parody? I mean, yeah, they're signed, and are an actual music act, but they really are also just an "act", and it always surprises me that it's not more obvious to people? HOW CAN YOU NOT TELL! Nobody that shit/retarded/disturbing would just randomly come out of nowhere with productions this expensive. They're comedians, with a great production team, end of.

Nope. The majority of their debut album material was on their free demo. This is not a contrived act from big management. They were 100% DIY band, from their early vids to their music.

Yes the new music on their Evil Boy vid is via a big producer (Diplo), but all the other tracks on the album are DJ hitek. Their signed debut is 80% original material remastered.

The Enter the Ninja video is 100% DIY by them with their own cash, helped out by a SA artist friend (the one with the growth disorder).

Their blood sweat and tears paid off. This didn't just land in their lap. This isn't chocolate rain.

I'm gutted, they are playing Boston the night before I land there for vacation. Halloween in Salem FTW.
