Are any of the Maidens fans also Vixen fans?

Last night I finally got to see Vixen live in a local bar. Even tho Jan is from St Paul, I think they only came thru town about once in the past 20 years. Wow, Jan surely puts on a great stage show and has killer guitar tone. Her bass player, Lynn Louise is also fantastic onstage. It is always great to witness top female talent live. So up the irons for Vixen, the Maidens and any other kickass female musicians that are not scared to TURN IT UP !!

Linda filled in as their drummer about a year or 2 ago.Former Phantom Blue Bassist the late great Rana Ross toured with them as well about 12 years ago.
Phantom Blue & Vixen had a bit of a rivalry both being all girl hard rock bands from So Cal.Vixen had all this success yet they had no credibility as they had outsiders writing their hits for them.they really played that whole corporate game with a bit of a manufactured image & trying to be the female equivilant of all the embarrassing Ratt/Poison rip offs of the time.
Meanwhile Phantom Blue while they didn't have the same success, they did have the credibility, talent & musical chops that Vixen were lacking. All you had to do was comapre the 2 bands & it was clear PB was 100,000 times the band Vixen were or everl will be!

A big hell yeah to that!!!!!!!! Althought Vixen are awesome and talented ladies, there is no comparision when it comes to who was the more talented band! Phantom Blue all the way!!!!!! :notworthy :kickass:

Didn't know about Linda filling in for them tho! Cool!!!

Damn Danny, nothing gets by you! LOL! Actually I was offered to tour with them way back when the Maidens was barely one year old but due to conditions and issues presented by their pathetically inept then-manager I was forced to pass on the offer. Such juvenile antics and games don't sit well with me and my manager's standards of professionalism and a road trip surely would have led to road rage against their manager on my part, and I am generally a patient and understanding person most of the time. It was a shame cuz the girls were really cool people and the tunes were fun to play. Thankfully they have new management now who seems to be more of a human being. They're also playing @ the Blue Cafe Sat. June 17 for anyone not wanting to go to Hollywood to see them.

Vixen had a meet and greet and I got to speak with Jan a little. I mentioned the Maidens and mentioned your name because I read awhile back that you had a chance to tour with them. She brightened right up when I said the Maidens and your name. I wondered why you didn't go on that tour so thanks for explaining the real reason Linda.

Aw, she is a sweet lady. I don't like to talk about not good things in a public forum, but it seemed there was no escape in addressing it this time without people thinking I was just ignoring them. It had nothing to do with the girls at all. They are wonderful people. :)

On a serious note I'll look around for it, not that I wasn't being serious;)

It's an awesome album!!!! :kickass:

Interview and live clips of Frantic Zone (from their self titled first album)

Why Call It Love (also from the first album)

There used to be one of My Misery (from BTP) but that seems to have disappeared!! :erk:

Enjoy!!!!!!!

:OMG: I never knew they did a video for "Why Call it Love"!I always thought that was an excellent song.Unfortunantly this is a classic case of how a bad video can ruin a good song.Sorry that video was kind of Ehh...
I've heard there was a video for "Time to Run." Glad I got to see that finally. But in this case I feel They could've picked a better song to release as a video but still itwas cool.

Some trivia: Future Megadeth Guitarist Marty Friedman coproduced the first Phantom Blue album & Contributed a lead on BTP for the song "A little Evil".

And want to know something stranger?Speaking of Vixen, back in '82 Marty had his own band called Vixen with a female vocalist named Kim La Chance. They recorded an EP called "Made in Hawaii" wich I havea copy of(as well as the demos)This band would go on to be called "Hawaii" & the Friedman/Vixen tracks would be rerecorded for Hawaii's 1983 classic debut "One Nation Underground".
