Vocalign question!

Yesterday I was in my post production class and I met this fantastic pluggin to align tracks.

I wonder, if you guys use this plugin for align quad tracked guitars , or vocals or whatever who needs to be aligned XD.

Another question is, exist other AU plugin who can make that job?

I used the demo version on our last album for the backing vocals. Worked great! Can't see why it wouldn't work on other sources as well, but didn't have the time to try out.

it doesn't work very well for things w/o much dynamic range like distorted guitars. I imagine it might work ok for DI tracks though.

yeah its not very good for distorted guitars but for vocals and clean insts its a huge time saver..............still can do it pretty fast by hand but that takes the cake for lining up stacks of vocals by far.....

Does any of you guys use vocalign for guitar DIs? I've been considering picking it up, but I'd like to hear if there are people here successfully using it first.

I think they do a free 14 day demo so your best bet would be to try it yourself.

I use it in Nuendo. Doesn't work worth poo for guitar. Induces really strange phase stuff when it tries to make it line up. I do use it for harmony stuff on guitar so it's lined up right. Backing vocals and doubling is great with it.

How much does the double have to be tight originally (i.e. how much tolerance allowed is there), so that Vocalign can line up doubles and the original track perfectly?

You can be WAY off and it do it well. At least with vocals.

Never liked it for any instruments or anything, but it's pretty much indispensable for vocal doubles and harmonies. If your singer is remotely competent timing wise it should be easily capable!
