VOLBEAT signs major deal

Not a shock at all. It's been clear these guys have star potential beyond our little niche. You can easily see their sense of melody, their punk aesthetic, and their unique style have a much broader appeal, even with a younger generation.

Several years later and I still don't see what the big deal is about these guys.

Apparently VOLBEAT has signed with Universal Music worldwide and for US management/booking they've signed with Primary Wave Artist Management (Aerosmith, Def Leppard, a.o.).

These guys are (well-deserved) going to be major stars in a few years!

Great for them. Hope they'll become a household name over here like they are in their own country. Can't wait to hear a new album, cause Guitar Gangsters And Cadillac Blood was their best IMO and my fave album of 2008.

I would have agreed with you a few weeks ago. I didn't mind them, but didn't see the appeal. I think I was too hung up on the hype and all the talk about the "Elvis" vocals.

Recently I had a mix of music in the player, and everytime a Volbeat song came along, I really liked both the music and the unique vibe. I'm starting to agree with the hype . . .

I've been tempted to buy a couple of their discs before, but I've passed them up after sampling them. Maybe I just need to hear a disc in its entirety. I've had the same thing to happen to me with DSO as well.

Do you like Danzig? Do you like Social Distortion? If you answer no to either of those questions you probably shouldn't bother with Volbeat.

I don't care for either of those two but really like Volbeat. I'd start with "Rock the Rebel / Metal the Devil" first, IMO, their best to date. Then their last one, Guitar Gangster & Cadillac Blood. Also, their DVD is really good.

I was going to say, I do hear some Danzig influence in the vocals. Although I do like some Danzig, I'm not really digging Volbeat. To each their own I guess.. Congratulations to them though!

for the people who don't see the appeal in Volbeat, its very simple...

You have no background in Punk Rock.

Case Closed.

When Volbeat was announced for PP a few years ago, my first thought was "Wow!! Whats next? Social Distortion or the Misfits at PPX??"

Social Distortion playing "Mommy's Little Monster " in its entirety and then the Misfits rattling off "Walk Among Us" would be fucking awesome! And yes, I have a punk background and I do like Volbeat

Nope, I sure don't.

Demon, I can't stand punk rock, so that might be my problem with Volbeat then. (shrugs)
