vst preamp sent to a power amp and cab?

i think this might be a cool idea. i have been wanting to get some mesa tones into my mixes but don't have the cash for a mesa head. so i was thinking, i could use revalver3's mesa preamp and send the signal out from my interface into the effects return on my 6505+ head and avatar cabinet and mic it up so it sounds more realistic than using impulses.

i'm assuming that i will not even have to use a reamp box for this since both the output of my interface (firepod) into the effects return are line level. i think this would be really badass to be able to blend all different kinds of amp tones! if you guys think this sounds like a good idea i might try to record some clips.

It's definitely a good idea, and has led to good results in the past. Just keep in mind that the Revalver 3 Mesa models aren't quite like the real thing. You might have more success with Wagner, Juicy and SoloC.
