Was Joey Belldonna considered to be Iron Maiden's singer?

That was......

horrible.

Vocals were just bad. Stage presence was even worse. I never understood the frontmen who think that standing on the stage and staring motionlessly into the crowd was a good act.

"Wow, you are staring into the crowd. You are so metal!!"

Idiot.

Both Maiden and Anthrax dropped the ball when finding a new vocalist. Iron Maiden because Bayley can't hold a candle to Dickinson and Anthrax because Bush, though a great vocalist, just didn't fit Anthrax's previous style and he could not carry the notes.

Only big band I can think of that got it even half-way right was Priest with Ripper.

I actually read that years ago...somewhere I cannot recall, that he was seriously considered for the job. Maybe even someone from Maiden said so.

thanks for the link maidenfan, now i know why people didn't want Blaze in Maiden. i think Joey would have done a better job than him and i'm sure even some of us on this board could have done the job as good as Blaze if not much better, still i like The X-Factor *gg*.

I never saw them and I don't care hahaha, always preferred Priest....

I like Priest. But Maiden especially live destroys them in every way possible. If you have never gone to an Iron Maiden show you will be in for a treat. I have seen Priest dating back to before Painkiller came out. I have seen Maiden since the 7th son tour. Priest puts on a cool show. But nothing in the world compares to an Iron Maiden show.

and if you're wearing your Eddie-mask you feel much more comfortable at a Maiden show, at a Priest-show it makes you feel like an alien. *g*

I've always thought Saxon were the best British metal band, their last few releases have been superb, close to Denim & Leather etc.

I also prefer SAXON, I just never cared for Maiden, IMO they are faaaaar overrated. Their live show might be cool (I seen the videos) but I still don't care for the songs....

I do like Di'Anno fronted Maiden BTW, live at the rainbow is the only maiden release I view on a regular basis.

i also like Saxon, Byford still has it, saw them last year with Iced Earth, 2 great metal bands with extraordinary singers, 'Into The Labyrinth' is pretty good, the way i want a 'new' record to sound.

Di'Anno fronted Maiden is also good, their debut is still one of my fav. by them, 'Phantom Of The Opera', 'Transylvania', classic epic metal.
saw Di'Anno in '96 in a small austrian village close to the czech national border playing live, he played several shows in austrian villages during that time.

Really? You think Killers, Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave, Somewhere In Time, Seventh Son are Over Rated? I think you are definitely in a minority there. Those are some of the best metal albums of all time.

Iron Maiden has their own unique style and has some of the best musicianship of any band ever. And they do it without any radio play. Not sure how you can think they are over rated. But I am definitely not trying to force my opinion on you.

These guys are in their 50's and still are making VERY good music and touring like they are kids. I don't think there is anything over rated about Iron Maiden

i personally know a guy who never liked Maiden because they have always been overrated in his opinion and he also prefers Priest, Saxon & Motörhead to Iron Maiden, so spacebeer is not alone on that one.
