watch your ankles

the sheer mechanics of it are MIND BOGGLING with the little legs and the light weight bones which normally do not support the weight of the bat didn't you know that bats had to sacrifice bone density and hence bone strength in order to be able to fly because flight requires quite a vast amount of ATP as it is and would not be possible without these light weight bones well it's pretty crazy really i wonder what kind of bones these bats have surely something different to regular bats it's sort of like Rickets which you get from a lack of vitamin D which is actually used in production of calcium ions internally and in londing about a century ago there was a lot of industrialization going on and hence clouds of smog would be held over the city and sunlight would not be able to come through and reach the skin which causes vitamin D to convert from its inactive form to its active form with di-substituted hydroxyl groups on carbons 1 and 25 which then makes it able to create calcium and this calcium then is either used in many processes of the body oh yeah you should see how important calcium is in the body anyway back to the story the calcium is either used or stored in the bones but you could get calcium sources from food really as well the thing is you want calcium to stay in your bones so they remain dense and strong but if you deplete these stored calcium sources in the bones the bones become less rigid and bend which is called rickets which is the bowing of the legs but anyway yeah bats have somewhat of a perpetual rickets-like stature because of their hollow bones and this makes it unlikely that they can support their body weight for running which is actualy why bats hang upside down as it doesn't stress their small hollow bones

I'm dizzyingly frightened because of this thread, and it has nothing to do with vampire bats.
