L1 has a sound. In one sense that's bad b/c it wasn't supposed to in the first place but there are applications where it's useful or even cool b/c it's sort of a transient destroyer. Generally, though, I think most people want a transparent limiter and those that buy L1 do so in a bundle. I think I paid $10 for it during a sale last year and for that price I'm totally satisfied. I just wouldn't want anyone to think of it as a general use mastering limiter in 2014.
