WCFYA sightings and prices.

Zakk Wylde is a fucking pussy poser. He is a glam rock star who all of a sudden became some Hells Angels wanna be. He is a talented guitarist but his music all sounds the same. Chug Chug pinch harmonic, Chug Chug pinch harmonic. Watching him try to act like such a biker tough guy is disgusting. Whats even worse are these white trash fucks that show up to concerts wearing one of those retarded Black Label Society vests. Its hilarious actually.

Black Label Society is a marginal band at best. Nothing original about them. Nothing ground breaking. Nothing memorable

To be honest I don't like the biker thing that much myself. BUT to say his music all sounds the same, especially coming from a Maiden-fan, is just wrong. Listen to Pride & Glory. Listen to Book Of Shadows. Listen to the two first BLS albums.

Spend much time searching for links? lol.

I guess I should say his guitar riffs sound the same. The beginning riff on Pride and Glory is a rehashed riff from about every song he ever did with ozzy. What ever the case I don't like his music but more don't like his poser biker look that he does. My family has a lot of true bikers in it. Old school bikers. They laugh at this shit. Especially knowing his back ground as a Glam rock panzy.

Ironic you're so concerned with Zakk's past as a "glam rock pansy" (he never wore makeup, he just had 80s hair) when you're so supportive of Anthrax having a singer that STILL looks like he's stuck in the 80s in 2010.

But at any rate, I love P&G, Book Of Shadows, and the first couple BLS records. Everything else is a lame rehash over and over and over again but gradually worse and worse.

I don't have a vest, and I don't want a vest. I've known those guys for years, the drummer from the first two BLS records, Phil Ondich, is one of my very best friends. I don't buy into that "family" shit that band tries to pass off to it's sheep. It's all a dumb image and it's all a crock.

And his image change wasn't a sudden thing. It gradually happened over 12 to 15 years.

True bikers are just as fucking gay as the people pretending to be them though. Grown men, getting all butthurt over what another man is wearing.

Say what you want about Joey. One thing you can never say is he sold himself out to be more 'cool' or fit some image. He got kicked out of Anthrax because they wanted a more 'grungy' type singer. Joey didn't try to change anything. He remained true to himself and still to this day doesn't give a fuck about musical trends. He never cut his hair off to look more like Phil Anselmo or changed his voice to sound more like Layne Staley. You may not like that he hasn't changed but I think the true Anthrax fans respect that and can look past it. Joey doesn't take everything he does so seriously and that is fairly refreshing in this age of tough guy rock n roll.

Zakk on the other hand changed his appearance to fit a 'cool' image. It wasn't cool anymore to have bangs and wear glam outfits so he started to change to be accepted by the 'cool' crowd. Not just Zakk but same with bands like Pantera, Anthrax, Metallica etc.

Respect though for your post. I mean no disrespect towards your buddy in the band, I am sure he is a good guy and is just collecting a pay check while Zakk goes out in his biker outfits.

This coming from the guy with BLS as his avatar.

Because I run a website, that's the site's logo, with the earth behind it. SDMFworldwide.com . Those early albums are some of my favorite albums and I have no problem promoting those. Though I havent really updated the website for a long time aside from mentioning the new album.

Zeppelin and Sabbath's later work also sucked ass - doesn't make the early work any less legendary.

Zakk did NOT change his appearance to fit a "cool" image. In 1994, southern rock and cowboy hats were NOT cool. In 1996, derby hats and wierd flowery shirts were not cool. In 1999 when the band first started, nobody else was wearing jean vests and leather jackets. Then they started adding the patches (which was a cool idea but was taken way too far and should have never became a serious thing) and switched to leather. More of an image thing than because it was "cool" - I didn't see anyone else dressing like that. In fact, I was a fan from the very beginning of the band, before they even had a NAME for the band. I heard the first album before the guitar player Nick got to hear it. None of my friends in high school thought they looked "cool" - and they loved ALL of the "in" things at the time. So I don't see how they chased trends. If how they dress nowadays became "cool" it was after they did it.

As far as my buddy Phil, he hasn't been in the band in over 10 years and doesn't make a dime off of them, despite the fact that he designed their logo and much of the artwork they still use, including their 'colors' (patches).

In a post above, you mentioned someone changing themselves to sound like Layne Staley. I assume you're referring to John Bush.

Newsflash for you - John Bush did not change himself to sound like Layne. Layne was a big John Bush fan, and if anything, Layne was trying to sound like John! Proof? Layne was a big Armored Saint fan and his high school band used to cover their tunes.

It is blasphemy to even begin trying to compare BLS to Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin. And using "Legendary" to describe anything BLS has done is just insane.

You are good friends with those guys and you still basically say they suck other than a few of the early albums.

i just don't like Zakk Wylde. I think the guy is a total phony asshole with an identity crises. His stupid Biker thing has gone to his head. Musically he seems to have lost it. Not skill wise but the music he does now is just boring with almost zero originality.

Zakk with Ozzy back in the day was great. He just went up there and played his ass off. I liked him back then. He wasn't trying to be anyone but a bad ass guitar player. Now he thinks he is the spokesman for the Hells Angels. Chapter this Chapter that. Fucking retarded. Giving his vests away like they are some kind of initiation thing.. I can go on and on... it just all is really silly to me

so then JB is the real misunderstood pioneer of Grunge?

And now you're putting words in my mouth.

Someone above hinted at the fact that John may have "changed" and tried to sound more like Layne, when in fact, it could be the opposite.
Another interesting fact there - some people criticized Anthrax for using Dave Jerden, the producer of AIC's Facelift and Dirt...but Dave Jerden had produced Armored Saint's Symbol Of Salvation before grunge got huge and before Dirt was recorded (though Jerden did produce Facelift before SOS).

now i arrive at the conclusion that Grunge was influenced by AS (Dave Jerden) and Bushthrax was heavily influenced by Grunge. so it all came from AS in the first place. SOWN (one of my fav. Anthrax records) sounds to me like Anthrax (classic line up) meets Armored Saint, you can still hear Anthrax's Thrash roots in SOWN, slowed down but still heavy. they should have continued with that sound.

As much as I don't like the bush era including SOWN, I agree that they should have continued to write music like that album. SOWN had some good commercial success and I am sure if they kept going that direction the fans they gained when they changed sounds after POT would have at least continued to follow them. But of course they had to change and change and get worse and worse until they almost had to call it quits. Very baffling

I haven't posted here in forever. Now I remember why I took a break... what was the term Billy Milano coined? Oh, that's right... internet tough guys.

As soon as I saw the name "ironmaidenfan09" and the Eddie/Sharon artwork, I thought, "COOL!!!" I'm a huge Maiden fan. I'm also a huge Zakk fan. I still need to listen to the new record, but I'll be the first to admit that "Shot to Hell" was awful aside from "Blood Is Thicker Than Water" and "New Religion." "Mafia" was a so-so disc. Everything before that, I dug. Quite honestly, I'm w/ Deege... my favorite Zakk material is P&G and Book of Shadows. A band like Queen or The Beatles never gets repetitive because they are so wildly diverse in their output. But by nature, successful bands all have a unique style and sound... hear any string sections on the last AC/DC. Is Motorhead doing an album w/ the London Philharmonic? Those are two AMAZING bands that could be accused of being repetitive only because they stay true to their sound. It's only natural that over the course of a career, bands will sound repetitive at times. Like I said, I love Maiden, I love all the post-2000 albums, but c'mon... clean intro/verse/chorus/verse/chorus/3x solo/bridge/chorus/clean outro. How about the single note solo rhythm to "Genghis Khan" being the same as the pre-solo bridge to "Infinite Dreams?"

Saying that P&G is a rehash of everything Zakk did w/ Ozzy is pretty off the mark. It comes off as being closed-minded and looking for ammunition to attack Deege. The same way you personally attacked johnnieczech on another thread. It's immature, and I'm pretty certain that if a whole slew of us on this message board were in the same room, the tone would be much more respectful, because there are no keyboards, monitors, and thousands of miles to hide behind.

Everybody is entitled to an opinion, but just scanning a handful of your posts, it seems like you are transfixed on proving to everyone how theirs are "wrong" while yours is "right."

Lol Maiden is nothing but rehashed material.
Also they always seemed pretty fucking glam to me.
Dresses no but eyeliner and tights yes...

the whole "Anthrax=grunge" thing is total bullshit. "Grunge" alone was the term made up by media to create another hype. The only thing that Nirvana, AIC, PJ and Soundgarden had in common was that they grew up in the same town and probably drank in the same bars. They all played totally different kinds of music.
