Weakling - Dead as Dreams now up on eBay.

Yeah.. I've been doing it alot recently. I'm trying to expand my music collection without going broke. I'll buy, rip to high-quality MP3, then sell (hopefully for more than I bought for). I'm on a fixed budget so this way, I can keep music coming in, without losing much money. Comes from paypal also so it doesn't come out of bank account.

Only my real fav's I keep. The last cd I bought & kept is Ayreon - human equation.

Here's whats next on my list (most came from ultimate metal forum suggestions):
  • Ulver "Kveldssanger"
  • Unmoored "Indefinite Soul-Extension"
  • Yes "Close to the Edge"
  • Yes "Fragile"
  • Masque of Shadows "Yokeshire"
  • Camel "Dust and Dreams"
  • Blut Aus Nord "The Work which Transforms God"

Seems like a bit of a pointless excercise. I mean, you could just download them? Or is the quality not good enough? VBR isn't all that uncommon these days.

VBR is high quality, to the best of my knowledge... so I meant that if quality was an issue... then it isnt an issue... *scratches head*

You should consider using DC++ or Soulseek for your downloads. You can find pretty much anything on them.

Excellent. Didn't know about soulseek. I'll check it out when I get home from work. - Did you happen to download anything from the list? Some of it's mellow Prog type stuff that I'm curious to hear.
The Ulver and Blut Aus Nord albums are both excellet, get them ASAP. Fragile by Yes is ok, it definitely has it's moments, but all in all doesn't have much lasting power. I've been meaning to check out Camel forever.... thanks for reminding me....

I already got Blut Aus Nord and Ulver from there, but I ran a search for the other recordings in the list and they're all readily available.

I've got Blut Aus Nord's TWWG and it's bloody awesome. I've also got Unmoored's Indefinite Soul Extension and it's pretty decent. Not the most interesting music but it's still pretty good.

Like everyone has said, go use Soulseek or DC++. I use DC++ because my computer is a piece of shit that can't run Soulseek.

I did a search and found DC++ program. but it seems to be a little difficult to use. I got it installed, but nothing appeared when I searched. I was able to pull up a list of hubs though. I'm sure I'll have to do some tweeking when I get a chance - and there's probably answers hidden in these forums somewhere. I'm psyched though. I gave up on getting underground/metal a long time ago. Couldn't get shit off of progs I was using.

On DC++, you can only search the files of the users in the hub(s) that you're in. Of course there are plenty of specialised hubs, I personaly connect to Black Mass, but I'm sure there's quite a few out there. Most require you to have a certain amount shared.

Ahhh.... okay.
Then I wonder why there is a general search page, with search options..

I went into a hub last night (random one) and it did say I had to have at least 5gigs shared, and at least 1 buffy the vampire slayer episode shared... !! er.. NOT.

Thanks Shroud.

Hmm, does buying and then selling support the underground music scene? This is a serious question actually.

Maybe I would feel better about myself if I did that instead of just downloading.

Not that buying CDs is a good source of income for bands. If you really want to give them cash, you should turn up to concerts, which is what they make most of their money doing. Or so I hear.

The only problem of buying & selling is that I sometimes buy music that I don't like, just based on peoples recomendations or reviews. That DC+ is okay I guess. Most rooms make you share at least 10 GB of music or they boot you. My hard drive is only 15 Gigs and Microsoft XP takes up like 5 of them!

I did find a good prog/underground hub that I downloada "Metal Church - Blessing in Disguise" from - an old classic. But when I "Get Lists" from users, I either cant connect, or they have no slot available. I'll have to figure out how to search their files next. .
