Interviewer:

How are you getting along with King?

Karl Sanders [Nile]:

Oh, it’s unknown, because no one is allowed to talk to King Diamond, do I don’t know. (Laughs) He has an armed security guard of four people that escort him into the building and out of the building. So, we don’t really talk to King Diamond, so I don’t know, maybe he’s having a good tour.

Weird right? Maybe he has gotten some threats from religious fanatics, that pure speculation of course, I don't know, but this is strange...

Well I know this, when I got my passes from the label, I was told that in no way was King doing interviews while on tour... I was hoping to catch him & do a follow up for Metal Sludge. I was told that it wasn't personal, he just prefers to NOT do interviews while on tour. King was never seen after the end of the gig, so I suppose he was snuck out the back door?
This is strange that, the opening bands don't even get a glimpse of the man...

Pabla and I got bs passes at the House of Blues show and we were hanging out on the balcony and security comes around and says "move over there, make way for the talent!" They cleared everyone off to one side and then whoosh, here comes this small entourage racing through the walkway. We were both like what the hell was that all about?!?!? :ill: I suppose he doesn't like to interact with his fans or his supporting bands while on tour. I wonder if he is like that off tour?

Someone has a major ego even though he doesn't sell enough records to justify thinking he is some Satanic Elvis lol ... only answer i can come up with is perhaps he is getting alot of death threats from right wing christian groups....

Yeah he ducked out of the show early in Alb, NM , I saw him haul ass to the bus while the rest of the band continued to play for a minute or so. Maybe hes getting paranoid?????

Supposedly he doesn't like to exert ANY unnecessary strain on his vocal cords. Hence why he doesn't do interviews on tour. He was having vocal problems at the beginning of the current tour. I was unaware that he was such a recluse though. That is rather odd.

I can't say how he is lately but I can tell you I have gotten his autograph on two different occassions. Although he was pulling the duck and run while the show was still not technically ended, he still was polite and signed a few things.

Still, I don't blame him for avoiding contact. With shit like the Dimebag incident happening, I'm sure that he has it in some part of his mind that he may or may not be next on some whack job's list.

king diamond is really cool, he's not a jerk, and whatever reason he has I don't care,(although I would like to see him after)

I can just imagine if I were in his shoes and had my reasons and then smartasses started running their mouths for no reason.

I mean pop stars, they just ask for it with paparatzos, and their stupid arrogance just for 1 hit that they had, but king? lay off the king.

No offense to the King fans here, but I think as an electrician, I stand a larger chance of being electricuted on the job than a metal artist does being slayed by some psycho. As a recording artist, it is the artists job to record a release and to play concerts. They don't HAVE to interact with fans, nor do they have to give interviews. However, the fans an artist has are what buys him/her their Big Mac. It wouldn't make me dislike the artist if they didn't interact with me, but it would certainly make me more forward to seeing them again if they did, as long as they were cool. "The King" is no better than I am. He has a cool job with shitty hours, but if he is not interested in talking to me, then obviously he isn't doesn't share my love for music and tlaking about music and is in the wrong business.

Let's think about this for a minute. We're talking about a guy who's credits include worshipping Satan, constructing a mic stand of human bones, and performing a most horrific cover of Radar Love?!?!? I don't know about you all, but any ONE of those things throws up a red flag in my mind that this guy may be a couple onion slices short of a quarter pounder! I like KD's songs....but I think he's a tad full of himself. A whack job, if you will. But then again, I like Lyle Lovett.

KD covered 'Radar Love'?:OMG:

Technically, yes. But quite some time ago, before Mercyful Fate days, with his first band called Black Rose. KD released a rehearsal recording, including that cover song, called King Diamond & Black Rose 20 Years Ago (A Night Of Rehearsal). It's pretty rough and raw sounding but don't let that dissuade you. I find it quite interesting. Then again I'm a big KD and MF fan so I'm obviously biased. :D
Let me warn you though, it's NOT heavy metal really. It has much more in common with old Deep Purple and Rainbow (note heavy use of Hammond Organ). Not that that's a bad thing of coarse. Just thought I'd let you know.

It's all because I told him once that I was going to talk to him about Jesus and why he is going to Hell, but I didn't tell him what city I would be seeing him in.

(yes, it's a joke!)

Sure about it? I mean if you can convert KD...:Spin:
