What is the worst theatrical release of the 21st century...

i saw Jaws quite a few times and never understood the huge praise it recieves ... yes its a good movie ... but what was the big deal about it?

christ, didn't you see this in 77? Even today, it stands its ground. The fact that it came in at #48 in the top 100 AFI films of all time is a discredit (I think it should have been in the top 25).

Jaws is practically Spielberg's answer to Hitchcock's Psycho. It's one of the most extraordinary pictures of our time. It also features some of the best directing techniques you'll ever see, not to mention the dialogue (including the ad lib regarding the Indianapolis by Robert Shaw).

Spielberg has never surpassed Jaws, ever. And he never will because he jumped his own shark.

One of the greatest scenes in cinematic history. Richard Dreyfuss also did his share of ad libbing in that scene.

No disagreement here, it's #1 for me as well.

LOL

Lara Croft - worst shit I so in the cinema. I was only 12 and it seemed bad even for my American Pie standards back then.

The Girl Next Door - A friend brought it... he also liked it. I need better friends. But seriously, this is bad even for a teen movie.

Too bad Gummo is 1997... but I guess this thread would be pointless otherwise.

haha Gummo. Was supposed to be about my hometown but the connection turned out to be in name only. I was glad of that.
