Just wondering what other speakers you guys like under the mic. I know V30's are a favorite around here, but do you guys like other speakers for high-gain? Which? Do you have examples?

:)

I love the Celestion Lynchback speaker - best aspects of a V30 and Greenback combined, with a less brittle upper mid and more low end than either but still tight.

Here's a completely raw example of the Lynchback vs the V30, both in the same cab (I have a 4x12 with an X-pattern of the two), both mic'd with a 57 in near as darn the same place, into an SSL E-series. Blending them 50/50 sounds awesome.

G12T-75, G12M-25, G12-65, G12K-100, all have their use depending on the slyle. I'd say T-75 are a bit harder to record than the rest, I tend to EQ them on the way in and I prefer K-100 blended with something else.
Planning to get G12-H30 soon to complete my collection.

Greenbacks.I find that I can get useable tones from every position, from the dustcap to the edge of the cone.

Nolly, both sound damn good.

I agree about the T75 not being as mic-friendly as the other speakers. I can tell that from my Marshall cabinet.

What about WGS's or Eminences? Anyone have good results with either?

V30/GK100 mix in my Emperor 4x12 sounds great. The Greenbacks I had in a Framus Cobra cab a while back were nice, but Splawn Small Blocks are much better IMO.

As much as people seem to hate on the Eminence Legends, the ones in my 2x12 Soldano cab sound fucking mean under a mic...
