What was your first formal production work like as an experience?

From being here and (occasionally) posting for the last year I've obviously noticed that quite a few of you do this semi of fully professionally.

So my questions are, what was your experience starting out? Did you push musicians too hard or not enough? Any lessons learned the hard way in regards
to working with bands?

Other than that, thanks to everybody here for sharing your knowledge and opinions. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's gained a lot from being here.:worship:

Too hard i think.... much as it pains me, working with a some bands they REALLY cant play that well, and sometimes you gotta suck it up and say 'that'll do' when you really dont mean it.... so they finish on budget/time

Also, dont fall into the 'just one more song' or 'just another hour' trap.. be ruthless about your time keeping or you'll get taken for a ride....

Ultimaetly , you've gotta set your role as the 'the boss' but a friendly boss, too friendly and theyll piss about and leave your place in a mess,
Too much of a hard arse and they wont come back...
