whats the best program for making dvds from mpg or avi files?

hi people i need some help with dvd making,i tried to convert a few live show mps vids to dvd,i got power producer with the dvd burner i got but it doesnt seem to do a good job,kept soming up with errors.

I forwarded your question to a buddy of mine who is a genius with this stuff, and this was his reply. "I have only ever used Tmpeg, its an Mpeg 2 encoder, so it is made for the purpose of DVDs, and that is all it does... so... if he hasn't tried that.. i would try.. aquiring it"
