what's the best website/tool to use to make your own website?

as i see it, it's a great skill to have these days, even using word press. so learning it on my own would be good. just don't know when i'll find the time.

edit: I get it. So Wordpress IS a CMS. Or can be customized into one.

Yeah. It was initially a blogging platform, but people started hacking it to work as a CMS. The release of 3.0 is when Wordpress started catering to those looking to use it as a CMS.

im getting my celta shortly. i have a ba and an ma as well, which is pretty much what you need to get going.

looking at various locations. i left rome and am back in london but want to leave after my celta course. shortlisted places are istanbul, moscow, seol, uruguay, osaka and shanghai

Yeah, I wouldn't consider Prague. I certainly would never consider going over there. It's odd insomuch as you can command FAR better working conditions outside of the capital.

What did you think of the Celta?

Well, Notepad is good for practice. If you are going to learn any HTML, that is the place to start.

I recommend Dreamweaver for those who want something clean and beneficial. Dreamweaver adds everything for you so you don't have to type in any of the HTML. The layout is very easy to use as well.

Also if you want to get a good lookin' webpage, I recommend learning some Photoshop. You can learn to create layouts of your own.

Good luck!

I did it in Edinburgh in 2008 (Randolph School).

I do ESL on the side, but I work for the British Council as an administrator/librarian. I did ESL for a year or so full time, though, before I moved to the Czech Republic.

Yeah, they do pay pretty well. I know they usually need a chunk of experience though. ESL can be a pain, but if you can go somewhere where the market is not saturated, you'll be fine. A lot of people come to Prague every year and are surprised how many teachers are already there. You need to have been here for 5 years plus to have a bit of a monopoly on the good jobs/a decent timetable.

I get paid a shed load to teach for the state language school here in Plzen and I live a very easy life. So easy in fact that I want to leave!
