What's the new Tool album like?

well i personally think this new album is up there with aenema. my one problem is the dissapointing final track. they usually have a hidden track of some sort and all this one had was noise. I'm sure it's not random and there's probably something hidden in there like maybe it's an EVP expirement. Jambi is still my favorite track and the rest are getting better and better the more i listened to it. the guitarrist uses a voicebox in jambi which sounds amazing. it gave me chills. I was driving home one day and completely missed my turn and went down like 5 more intersections becuase i was zoning out to wings for marie pt 2. the album is a nice collection of styles from all the other albums check it out.

different production to lateralus, a bit more distorted and they do some experimenting with (weird) time signatures as the band has stated that they drew influence from meshuggah. Takes abit to get into and the single vicarious is abit of tool by numbers but it isn't a bad listen, i still prefer earlier stuff myself

I agree with Jono. The more I listen to this album the more it grows on me. They kinda lost me with Lateralus but I had very high expectations after they released their masterpiece Aenima(my opinion). I think Adam definitely stepped up as a guitarist with this album. His guitar work on Lateralus to me sounded like rehashed riffs off of Aenima and were kinda boring. I wish I would have got tickets to see their show at the Fox Theater in Detroit now.

I am psyched as I am seeing Tool live tonight!!

How was it? Tickets for the Detroit show are going for 300-500 dollar range on ebay. I would love to see them at the Fox Theater but there is no way that I am paying that much. Damn scalpers.

Adam deffinately had more influence on this album. In his Guitar world interview he talked about how he wrote jambi which happens to be my fave. and i can't remember for the life of me who he got to advise him on the use of the talkbox for his solo in that song. it wasn't frampton i know that. I can't wait til they do a full scale US tour cause i know he's gonna wail on it with his new toy.
