What's with the official site?!

Does anyone even use an "official" website anymore? With Facebook and Myspace, I can't see why you'd need it unless you're hosting a forum or chat program.

I'm on Myspace once ever quarter or so. I don't have a facebook. Official sites are my preference, they can contain FAR more information than a simple MySpace can. I must be getting old, I'm not hip with the kids in their FaceSpace whozits and such.

It's all about information... Facebook and Myspace profiles aren't as detailed as official sites.

You can promote better with a professionally made website. Then they aren't just another myspace band.

But even so, I've gone to a band's website at most 2 or 3 times in the past year, and I doubt I'm alone in this. Also, LOL, at the implication that having a fancy website makes a band stand out.
