whats your guitar setup?

i know exactly where your coming from man! it sucks having a crappy amp! my is a total lemon but i cant really afford anything better right now, im thinking of going with a spider II combo but im not to sure i would rather have an all tube combo amp, but those are not cheap!!!

Well, before I got my amp, I used my computer as... something that sounded worse than the cheapest crap you can get.. It sounds alright now, it's mainly the guitar I'm looking forward to update.

hot rodding my guitars is a hobby to me, i usually have been known to go through a set of 6 or 7 humbuckers before i find the ones i like in my guitars, and dont get me started on wiring options....

hey, you like your 20/20? Im getting either that or the 2:50 with my tax money, and Im just wondering what your opinion is of the 20/20..is the 20/20 tonefull enough and will it be quiet enough in a apartment while still keeping the tone, but still not be drowned out by a full drum set at practace? and is that a 1960a marshall cab?
I think the 20/20 is great for it's price. As for tone, yeah it gives more warmth to my Solid State preamp (blue head) than when I play at a friends house using his Solid State power amp. As for loud, well the off position is at about 7 o clock position, but i haven't gotten past the 9 o clock position ever! in other words it ungodly loud, but I can't answer for how good the tone remains at louder settings.

The Marshall cab was part of a JCM900 combo, btw. A friend was in need of money so he offerend me the 20/20 + Cab for $500, ahem I like my friends :)

$500? yeah, you ripped him off big time. LOL..what is a "blue head" btw, not familiar with that, unless your talking about a blue voodoo.....Im considering getting a marshall JMP-1 preamp to use with the 20/20 or 2:50..

hey goth fiend,

the new spiders uses the same modeling technology and SHARC processors as VettaII, just in a stripped-down form. I tried one out the other day, and was pretty impressed, got some ripping tones.

as far as value for the money goes, these are hard to beat, and a GREAT improvement over the original spider1.

and remember, mike romeo uses a Vetta, so it's hard to go wrong if you're using the same technology.

Heh actually that was his offer for a friend. Uh the Blue head is my rockman gear that i described in the first post on this thread...

yeah, now I know what your talking about, all those little half rack pieces of gear with the blue front, made famous in the 80's..cool, never met anyone who collected those. are they really that good? I see tons of them on ebay all the time..

Really good? well it's a matter of taste really. Lots of people that do collect them are Tom Scholz (Boston) fans and want that Boston Tone (me included), go to www.rockmancentral.com to satisfy any curiosity about these units. If there is one unit that every rack should have is the Stereo Chorus unit, really lush, great analog sound.

seems really cool, im not really after that boston sound though, more after the shred sound, something close to Vai's tone actually..

Active Duty Guitars:

Ibanez: RG520QSOL, X2N in the bridge, Norton in the neck, kill switch
Ibanez: RG520QSOL, stock pickups, custom Floyd Rose bar retrofit
Ibanez: RG2027: Stock, worst fretwork ever.
Ibanez: S3040BS: stock with Tone Zone, Air Norton, Blue Velvet, tuned down to D.
Gibson Les Paul Custom: stock, tuned to Drop C

Amps:

Line 6 POD XT
Marshall TSL100 with 1960 angled cab

yes...I know, lots of Ibanez guitars, and I'm pretty fed up with them too, looking to step up to either Vigier, Caparison, ESP, or maybe Pensa or Anderson...

I have other gear but my main rig is:

Guitars
-------
Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Classic (main git)
Ibanez RG570 (if I ever need the whammy bar)

Amp
----
Laney VH100R - most underrated amp ever. This thing can do anything. Cheaper than a Marshall with ten times more features :guh:

FX
---
Boss GT6 - the only floorboard multiFX unit
Morley Bad Horsie Wah pedal

The Les Paul, Laney, GT6 setup has pretty much stopped my G.A.S. in it's tracks. (GAS - Gear acquisition syndrome) At least for the moment.

Harro.

sounds pretty damn nice to me!! tell me is that pod of yours something you would recomend to a guy wanting a 'high gain super beast amp' without having to go buy a mesa or something along the lines? i was thinking of getting a marshall avt head and using a pod as the preamp, would it be worthwhile?
sorry dood I totally forgot i posted here,.
umm well, you could do that, i don tlike valve state amps, im sticking to tube or tube mods, but sure go ahead, it shouldnt sound too bad. just remember hat you are going to have two lows, two mids, and two treble, so just remember that.

your set up puts mine to shame.

I play an ibanez rg 2550ex prestige with a dimarzio fred humbucker in the bridge and a paf pro Dp151,
i also have a ibanez sa260 with a evoloution pickup D159
and i play through a Vetta II and line 6 cab or a peavey transtube 100 efx with again a line 6 cab.
i dont usually use fx with the vetta but i do with the peavey efx i use a boss me 50 ( usually for home practise use the vetta II for gigs)

right on, lukepetrucci! another vetta player!

i'm guessing that you have the head, since you mentioned the L6 cab. I run a Vetta combo through a couple of genz-benz g-flex cabs.

if you're not already on the forums there, you should check out www.instituteofnoise.com

it's a great hang for vetta owners, or L6 product users in general.
