You're using different meanings of the word insecure; I'm not insecure in the sense of "doubting myself and not having confidence" for not wanting to date an insecure chick, but rather "doubting her and not having confidence in her", which is quite different And yeah, "potential mate" as in someone I'd want to do more than just schtup a couple of times. And where did that "come as they are, people can't change" line come from? I'm not asking an insecure girl to change (even though I totally think people are capable of it), I'm saying I wouldn't even pursue anything with her

And I wasnt calling you insecure or anything at all, you're a nice guy Marcus I don't need to be a dick to you , I was just saying in that sort of hypothetical scenario that I think having a lack of faith in others would tend to make them more aware of their own insecurities imho and thus more likely to act upon them.

The people don't change bit came from, the "you really have to work to get her to that point" line, if thats not what you meant then I must apologise, but it seemed like you implied that you could invoke some sort of change, I was just saying that I feel thats kinda unrealistic to expect peoples personalities to change or differ under anothers influence in a sort of controllable manner if you will.

Ok, cool, no problem dude - I do have a fair amount of faith in others, and would consider myself a pretty trusting person, once a person has earned it; however, I also usually think I'm pretty sharp at gauging people after a couple of good conversations, and if it's a girl that just really comes off as not really having her shit together, then the attraction factor goes down pretty substantially. But if she does (and most that I ask out end up doing so), then I'm all for it.
