When will OPETH start writing a new Opus?

Well, the good thing about an album every 3 years as opposed to 2 is that Mike will be less likely to suffer from writing burnout.

It was cool when they released an album every 2 years (they even had a couple of instances of releasing albums only a year apart), but they were younger then and had a lot to prove, and were pretty much not touring at all.

^ yes.and even if they tour and they go back home, Mike used to have a lot of time to write songs and stuff...unlike now, u know, spend time with kids and wife and bla bla bla ! It's different ! I can wait for several years for a good album release,not like metallica for example, been waiting 4 years and look what I (we) got !!

that's right... furthermore, you normally use the word "opus" followed by a number to point a piece of the artist's global work.
The word to be used in our context would be.. "masterpiece", I guess.

Which still doesn't make sense because Opeth can only have, presumably, one magnum opus.

ITs not good to write too much you could end up with writers block, which is bad and can cause headaches. Reenergize the writing batteries after long tours seems to be the best way to do it, come back refreshed after touring and go to town writing makes sense. Piling up ideas could be good or bad, depends on the personal preference because some artists write better at the spur of the moment.
