When you apply the c4( or other mb comp) on guitars

Do you do it only on the palmuted riffs or you apply it over the entire guitar track? I ask this cuz my guitar tracks always need some c4 on them , but on some of the riffs is really hard to apply it only on the Palm muted parts.
Take in mind that im using the c4 only to tame the lowmid bump .
Hope you understand my question and give some pointers.

Well in the way a multiband comp works, it'll just shave it off when it's in excess, if I understand correctly.

So I just leave it on.

Yup, provided you've set the threshold correctly! (meaning, not too low)

otherwise, if you only wanted multiband comp on palm mutes (for some reason) just automate the threshold of the c4
