where is soulseek?

I'm assuming SoulSeek isn't connecting to the server when you start it up. I had the same problem, apparantly a lot of people have. Uninstall SoulSeek and then click the link in the first post. I don't know much about the program, so I also deleted my .cfg files, and I lost my user list. Maybe read through the whole thread that I linked to before you do it.

Yeah, it is the shit. I've recently started using Direct Connect, and I can't figure out the hype. Maybe I just don't know the good DC hubs, but I find way more good stuff on soulseek, and usually get faster downloads there too. Am I missing something?

I d-loaded and installed this prog for the first time days before this glitch hit.... so I thought either I was doing something wrong... or slsk just plain SUCKED!
Until Li starightened me out.....

All the obscure avante gard, ambient and industral stuff I've been trying to get my hands on for YEARS right at my finger tips... AND I CAN'T LAY A HAND ON IT!

It doesn't help that their FAQ page isn't up...
What is it doing - are you getting error messages/dialog boxes, or is it just not downloading the files you're after? Will anything download? Is anyone uploading from you? Is the 'connection' box in the upper left purple or green? Are you behind a firewall? If you are, can you disable it and see if that helps? Um, I dunno what else...

Active connection, takling to folk, HEAPS of people downloading off me, but I either end up in an OBSCENELY long queue, end up with an 'awaiting user' status, or worse, run into a 'Remote: File Not Shared' status.
I swear to god people on slsk my be VERY loathe to share files.... or they simply run away in droves when they see me coming......
I was more after tips and tricks to finding more results... or getting more people to actually LET ME GET THE STUFF THEY SHARE...... The amount of time I'm getting 'shut down' suggests that their is some sort of Etiquette I just don't see.....

hmm, is this 'soulseek' better than kazaa then? kazaa is fine for finding mainstream music, but anything remotely obscure and you always end up with the old 'more sources needed' bullshit
