i was just farting around in my room, looking through old boxes and stuff. i come across some old paycheck stubs from toys r us...one of them still had a check attached! for 200 bucks! WTFFFFFFFFF.
of course, the check expired in october. so. :Smug:
goddamn.:yell:

Sucks.

I had a dream last night that I was playing some stupid bingo game at the Mobil station on Adams and Indiana, and my quarter turned into $1,000 cash in like 30 seconds. I was on my phone and I said "dude I just got a shitload of cash now I gotta go" and was all excited because I could pay off my taxes from this year, but NO it was a dream.

aww. yeah i hate when i wake up from really good dreams only to realize in a moment that none of it was true. ruins having a good mood the rest of the day.

This reminds me of the time I sweated all the ink off of a $100 check from my 7th grade teacher. Damn Midwestern summer weather. :(

*whew*
i've been talking to some middle aged, well experienced folks and it indeed seems it shouldn't be a problem to get the check reissued.

I MAY WIN AFTERALL!

I think it's funny how you backwards yanks actually STILL USE PAPER CHECKS IN THE 21st CENTURY?!?!

I mean christ, wake up and smell the coffee that's been in the pot so long it's just some black smelly goo stuck to the bottom

Cool, I'm just going on prejudices as usual

Though I gather that checks and money orders and antique shit like that is still used a lot in the US, as evidenced by loads of eBay auctions and such that want payment in money orders... Money orders are pretty much impossible to receive/send in most of Europe... We just don't use them.

my first few years of work I refused to get direct deposit 'cause I had some irrational fear that a computer would fry and my pay would vanish into the ether. but since I signed up I've never had a problem. I have no doubt you're right about americans and their outmoded paper; the banks try and push automated everything cause they save money that way, but they still charge us for everything!!

fucking bankers.
