Favela of My Dismay

After an hour of miserable melodies to decipher what album the afore pic representated, I uttered to myself, "Who bitch is dis?" Turns out Shazam is worthless, but suppressed synapses of the RC mind are not. Artisa? Nah Akitsa! Eureka!

Surprisingly this album came out in 2018, which is odd since I wasnt buying nor discovering much new music in that fateful year.

Nevertheless, highless recommend this BM act from Quebec.

I feel like Sam the Eagle whenever I watch a video like that bottom one. Makes no sense at all to me. "You are all WEIRDOS."

Anyhow the band is good, I like it. Kinda Helheim vibe with the vocals. It's all better explained via the Archives today though:

Consider this a glorified NP: list of unidentifiable albums that resurface around one's abode in mysterious ways. Yesterday, I started purge one. Many an album hopped on the rail cart towards their future discoffin. Poor little things didnt know any better, they thought this Polycarbonate Birkenau was a Club Med, go figure.

The cd meant for the gas was Ephemeral Sun "Before the Door." I dont know if I bought that due to Laurie Ann Haus' ashen hue or off musical fundamentals, thats a discussion for a later day. Lo and behold, I found the unidentifiable album above tucked underneath the Ephemeral Sun album. What a great excuse to post in a thread entitled "Who bitch is dis?"

Century Media was off putting upon initial inspection. Was fearing this was going to be some Devin Townsend shit that Im just not very into. Turns out the album in question was Solefald's In Harmonia Universali.

Totally perplexed whether this holds two decades later given my curmudgeonly like disposition at the time of writing. Vocals, (both growls and Peter Brady wails) fall about as flat as a De'Angelis road side raccoon. Saxophones are about the only thing gripping me, but too little in the mix. Im going to cast this into the pile of shit until my mind is more at ease, or Brady's balls descend. This brand of "avant-garde" has aged as well as 80s Brando.

It has been some years since I dun spun dat one, but it used to keep me warm on hot drunken nights.

i've recently noticed prices of cd players increasing a bit in thrift stores, etc.

used to be you couldn't give them away, now they are maybe $25

i mean still... you can get some really good ones for very little money. i keep wanting to buy more cd players whenever i find a nice one but realistically i don't need a lot of cd players.

i just need one for now. maybe more when i finally get a house.

one thing thats annoying me is ive noticed new cars dont come with them. i looked for a new car with my crazy ex gf last year and my 1st question was "does it have a cd player?"

maybe thats why im subconsciously hanging on to my beat up honda.

i mean wtf, am i supposed to use my phone and leave all that plastic sitting on the shelves?

yeah dude my new-to-me 2009 subaru has a 6CD changer so suck it  it even came with a shit AC/DC cd (ballbreaker) and a home-burnt creedence clearwater revival compilation loaded. CSCROE.

luckily it also has a 3.5 mm aux in so i can actually listen to music

that is a score, especially the 6cd changer. screw all this new fangled tech.

The 6 cd changer in my Honda has gone to total shit. Im guessing a wire in the steering control is pinched causing everything to randomly go ape shit strong. "They're heeeeeeeeere."

CDs will jump tracks, switch to XM, raise and lower in volume, etc. Complete utter shit. Going to buy a Pioneer Single Din and put it underneath the head unit. Cant switch out head due to exorbitant cost and HVAC controls being built into the HU. LAME!

Already bought the wiring harness and housing for it, just need to install.

Am I the only one STILL listening to cds around here lulz? I listen to a fair amount of mp3s on my phone, but ITS NOT THE SAME!

naw dogg, i still listen to cd's... sometimes... but i'm like 90% spotify because i spend my life in front of computers

but cd CHANGERS in particular strike me as more old-fashioned than regular cd players because they hail from a time when the only way to get hours worth of background music going was to load a changer up with what you think you might want to be listening to for the next 6 hours and pressing shuffle

idk i just think they're inconvenient in a home hifi environment

My Honda also has a 6 cd changer. I just burn albums onto CD's in 320kbps (fits approx 6 albums on avg per CD depending on length). I have an AUX obviously but I have never had good experience with AUX connections. They always sound like absolute dog shit. Fuck that.

I really wish I had a USB connection. That would be the fucking shit, tbh. Only if it is fed through the stereo's DAC though or it probably would also sound like shit.

Also I can recommend all old school playaz one of these

(recieves bluetooth and sends it as radio to your old skool car stereo so you can rawk spotify in pretty much any car)
(and its like ten bux)

Also, even though I'm still buying CD's like a fucking champ, I just burn 'em in FLAC to my hard drive as soon as I get 'em then relegate the CD to the shelf where it sits lookin' pretty.

A few years ago, I sold my Cambridge Audio CDP and bought a Chord Qutest DAC which I run my laptop into and through my amp/speakers. I still havent gone the wireless route as that would require me changing my amp which would be a pain in the ass and I love my amp.

I have been toying with the idea of getting a quality CD transport though so I can get all nostalgic and actually sit down with the booklet and play my CD's like when I was a young buck.

When I start reading about nowadays technology, it gives me a headache.
