They are quite unique in a way so I can't think of any band that you can compare them too.

I listened to Pure Holocaust today, very good for my mood at the moment. But I think I wouldn't put it on now. Now I'm more in the mood for DT.

hmm, thats a hard one, haven't heard arcturus in while, a rather long while i must admit. Therefore I find myself at a loss and I am not able to answer the question.

I went to hatebreed once at graspop, that was a bit to much at that moment, there is something about that band that just doesn't appeal to me.

Then I can answer it
The newer stuff is pretty melodic but not like arcturus while their older stuff is lightning fast black metal.
Marduk is however just fast black metal that get boring really fast.

so simply said,
marduk => fast black metal, gets boring just a bit to fast.
older immortal => fast black metal, less boring than marduk
newer immortal => more medolic, but different from arcturus (thanks to TB because I don't know these very well)

this probably doesn't make it any easier, but still it is al in one post now
