Mors Principium Est is set to hit the studio in October to record the follow up to their debut album, Inhumanity. Listenable Records projects a late '04/early '05 release. Anybody else out there a big MPE fan?

You didn't click on the link that says "Who's looking for to MPE's new album?" That must be some crazy fricken optical mouse then dude. The title of the thread was pretty obvious, was it not? It was not a yes or no question.

I clicked on no link, I've heard the band before.

he means the link for this topic, genius.

And yes I am looking forward to their next release. Inhumanity, was well executed melo-death that even managed to sound fairly original throughout.

In a magazine interview with Jori he said...keyboards will take more place than on inhumanity but not as a solo instrument, they still continue painting the backround. Sampling will be introduced as well as sounds of machines and other ambience. I've also added a little more of my clear vocalparts, which hopefully will not be compared to certain bands :) Otherwise the overall sound of the album will be a lot darker and harder than Inhumanity.

Sounds interesting, especially since their keyboardist just quit the band.

Im not too keen on the ideas of samples. Maybe one to introduce the album and one to end it well, any more could prove disasterous. Everything else sounds great though.

Yeah, I'm thinking more or less the same thing. When I first heard about MPE I remember reading 1.) They were from Finland and 2.) They had keyboards in their music. First thing I thought was oh no, not another CoB clone. Man I'm glad I was wrong. Nothing against CoB, but we already have enough bands doing that sound or close to it...Kalmah, Norther, etc. If I didn't know where MPE were from I would have guessed Sweden or maybe Norway the first time I heard Inhumanity. The keyboards were subtle and well timed, which is not the norm from melo death bands from Finland in my experience. The vocals were also much more DM than BM too, which is how the Swedes generally do their melo DM.

I'm not too pumped about samples in metal, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt cuz they've shown they know how to go against the grain and pull it off.

Answer: no, the title wasn't obvious at all. I had no idea what MPE was supposed to mean until I clicked the link. HTH.

Haha, MPE sound exactly like Children of Bodom at times, you have got to be kidding yourself.
Norther, Kalmah, these queers, they're all the fucking same.

COB is like the N'Sync of Finland obviously, because we've got a whole brigade of boybands ready to ape that style.

Imagine that, he thinks two different bands sound different from one another, what a novel idea.

There's no "thinking" involved here. What there is, however, is an obvious juxtaposition of similar musical styles. MPE have the signature semi-agressive harsh vocals down, they have those catchy riffs that CoB always manage to completely pound into oblivion (the bad kind of oblivion), they have similar drumming, especially in the double bass "power metal song" style, and the silly out of place keyboarding (though CoB's on Hatebreeder was pretty good, I must admit).

That still doesnt add up to "exactly the same" it just shows what we already know their in the same genre. also MPE's keyboards are much more of a background instrument than a solo one as its used in Bodom(Im thinking more of Hatebreeder here)

MPE sound more Swedish than Finnish to me. They sound nothing like CoB, Norther, Kalmah, etc. If you had to compare their sound to another band it would probably be Omnium Gatherum.

:err: :tickled: :tickled:  Yes, of course. I'm sure all the little boys and girls of Finland bring COB lunchboxes to school.

lmao, there's a difference between "genre" and "sounding exactly the fucking same".
You have contributed nothing to this thread so...

^ Best pic ever.

I like Mors Principum Est, and they do sound like Omnium Gaherum, but they have done nothing groundbreaking. They have more consistency than CoB, but they're not too different sounding.

Listen to Callenish Circle. They're much better.
