Jonas is a BASS GOD. I love his work with [keyboardist] Jens Johansson, whether it's Jens album or Jonas'...e is by the Jonas Hellborg Group, with Jens and Jens' brother, Anders, who's a superb drummer. Like Stanley Clarke and Jaco Pastorius, Jonas is one of the very best bassists I've ever heard, in rock or jazz.
Then there are the usual suspects we all love: Geddy Lee (the guy who first made me appreciate bass beyond a standard rhythm instrument), Chris Squire (have always loved his bass tone), John Wetton (in his pre-Asia days, haha), Alphonso Johnson, Anthony Jackson, Sean Malone, Tony Levin, etc. I love Tony Levin's playing. And his head. I'd like to rub that nice shiny noggin of his down, maybe lacquer it or something.
