Why does my pinky hate me???

Haha, I know what you mean, man. It's annoying as hell, but you just need to keep practicing and using it. I am myself guilty of being lazy so I play a lot of riffs that would be easier if I had a strong pinky, by just figuring out a way to play them without using my pinky, but when I do use it a lot it does build up strength. Just keep using it and it'll get stronger. Fight, little pinky...fight!
 
i rarely use my pinkey past the 12th fret cause i have big hands and its hard to fit it in,i only use it for big stretches...


HOWEVER!

BElow the 12th fret, it is invaluable... Just do chromatic exercises.
 
best thing to do is definately chromatic exercises

try to do em in 1 position and stretch your pinky to get the notes you need to hit, like

----------1-2-3-4-5
1-2-3-4-5----------

etc.
 
Chromatic is the term used for the scale that contains all 12 notes, i.e including sharps and flats.
So chromatic exercises are ones where you play every note like

E--------------------------------------------1-2-3-4
B-----------------------------------1-2-3-4----------
G--------------------------1-2-3-4--------------------
D------------------1-2-3-4----------------------------
A---------1-2-3-4-----------------------------------
E-1-2-3-4-------------------------------------------

You then keep going up and down.. there's plenty of variations out there.
As long as you stick with them you'll have strong fingers in no time.
