Why don't we have an Impulse sample sticky?

ftp://ftp.sneapforum.celtiaproductions.co.uk/htdocs/Impulses/

But people will need to read the sticky about the ftp first, if they have never accessed it before. I'm not sure if it's possible to make an http url to the folder. According to what Gavin says in the sticky, the address should be

http://www.sneapforum.celtiaproductions.co.uk/Impulses/

but when you try this, you'll get a "you are not authorized to view this page" message. Anybody know? I'm not too knowledgeable about these things.

How do I access the FTP???
where is this sticky?

sorry Im completely new to this FTP thing..

I think we need to make a sticky on the use of the SEARCH function. I know it has its annoying limitations (20 second rule, and 4 character or more rule...this one really bites sometimes)... but in general, it works pretty well.

well when you do a search for it, 90% of the post that come up is a guy asking "what are impulses" then another guy saying "use the search"

:ill:

Well, we were in the process of helping everyone out, and creating a central folder for all impulses, and possibly writing a guide, but the ftp was "confiscated". Waiting to see what happens with the ftp. I don't want to give Gavin any more trouble.

...?

I just got on the FTP. I see impulses. Usually when I hallucinate things, it's little cartoon badgers that fly around the room making aeroplane noises - I'm fairly certain this shit is actually there.

There's some things there now, but only what people have uploaded in the past two days. Check out Gavin's FTP thread (last two pages) to see what's been going on. There's a reason why everything was pulled off. Waiting to see what Gavin is up to.

I see only guitarhacks impulses on the FTP...
could anyone that has ALL CABS impulses posted in the past upload ´em to the FTP??

Please...
Thank You...
Appreciated...

:) :kickass:

I don't want to sound like a jerk when I say this, but...
also if people would please take the time to read the stickies...such as Gavin's ftp sticky. I had created an "impulses" folder...with all of my cabinet impulses, and other various impulses. Brett was about to put it in the Useful Links sticky. But everything was removed from the ftp. Yes, I realize there is more stuff back up on the ftp. But I personally don't feel like putting a ton of stuff back up there just yet, to possibly see it all removed again, and also giving Gavin a hard time. I'm waiting until he resolves things. Gavin, you rock for creating the ftp in the first place, and for dealing with this crap now. :headbang:

And GuitarHack, since you're back around again...I can tell you THANK YOU for all those awesome impulses. It was just the ticket for getting the guitar sounds I've been struggling for. :worship:

I think anyone who has used your impulses, such as myself, greatly appreciate your efforts and what you have released for us formites to use.

I didn't mean to offend you by my original post, I was just wondering what happened since I've noticed your going back and editing all your posts that contained links to the impulses.

Cheers mate, to you :kickass:

this may sound totally noobish, but is it possible to record an impulse of your own voice? Should be cool...

Not this sort of thing. Impulses basically model what happens when a given chunk of audio goes through a system like a room's reverb or a speaker cabinet, so while I suppose you could do some obnoxious talk-box impulsing you're not going to be able to get what I think you're looking for out of impulses.

What if you had a speaker surgically inserted into your lung cavity?:err:
