Dog shoots Frenchman

PARIS -- A French hunter was shot by his dog after he left a loaded shotgun in the back of his car with two dogs, one of which stepped on the trigger, police said Wednesday.

The man, from the village of Espelette in the Basque region, was admitted to a hospital in the nearby town of Bayonne Monday with injuries to his hip.

"As he was driving along, one of his dogs accidentally set off the gun," a police official said.

A PET owner has been charged with cruelty after castrating his dog with a shotgun.

Police called to Joseph Dabney's home in Oklahoma found his Rottweiler-pit bull cross lying in a pool of blood.

The 35-year-old told officers he had wrapped a rubber band around the dog's testicles before firing the gun.

Dabney explained that he could not afford to have the dog which is now recovering after emergency surgery castrated by a vet.
