The Chasm signs to Wicked World

The infamous pure 'Metal of Death' cult signs new deal

Wicked World is proud to announce the signing of Chicago based arcane Metalheads THE CHASM to a worldwide deal.

Through the course of a multitude of recordings and varied labels, The Chasm's last release, in 2002, was the majestic 'Conjuration of the Spectral Empire' which received rave reviews for all quarters.
The band's epic vision combined with their 'Metal of Death' philosophy has ensured a loyal and dedicated following which has stuck with the band throughout its existence.

In return The Chasm has delivered its hordes of devotees the most forward thinking, creative and challenging Metal over the years, and show no signs of deviating from their chosen path - to produce the kind of quality that the old Metal gods routinely delivered, whilst building a distinct and individual sound that elevates those principles through experimentation and exultation.

The Chasm mainman Daniel Corchado states:

"We are very proud to announce that after several years of struggling and some bad experiences on the record deal territory, somebody finally had the guts to step up and get us a professional and serious deal. THE CHASM
has exclusively been signed to legendary/long time running UK based label WICKED WORLD/EARACHE for the release of the upcoming 7th assault in our cursed odyssey.
Procreation of the new Death Hymns has already started, and as mentioned before, we are gonna take our time and do
what we have to do in order to build what it shall become; a very immense and abhorrent Dark Piece of the Deadliest Metal ever created by THE CHASM.
To all those True Believers of this cult we can only say that this New era will be more devastating and obscure and that your Raging Souls won't be disappointed at all with the new Chapter, expect the Ultimate praise of
Death...."

The Chasm plan a new album for release on Wicked World in 2004.

What's been said about the THE CHASM:

"Here's some of the best roots-based semi-melodic blackened death metal you¹ll hear today. The album is not something you can appreciate with just one listen either. It took me more than a few spins to truly appreciate The Chasm¹s bloody grandeur. 'Deathcult Arrival' is closely followed by a horrifying scream that almost takes your breath away as the band launches into ³The Conjuration.² Corchado¹s vocals are more like demonic shrieks from another plain of existence than simple metal wails. The fierce delivery of ³Dark Cloud,² including a Tom Araya scream, brought to mind the unbridled musical torture of 'Hell Awaits' or even 'Reign in Blood'.

"You definitely need quite a lot of self-confidence to start an album with a five and a half minutes long instrumental track... And in order to really succeed on such a mission, you furthermore not only got to have the technical skills, but also a good sense for exciting and strong songwriting. Chicago's THE CHASM are long enough around to fulfill both these requirements, and more. Great band, great material and an overall very cool packaging, even with a video track as a bonus... Too bad that the industry hasn't noticed this little gem yet, so that the band constantly has to struggle, while releasing their material on rather obscure underground labels."
Voices from the Darkside.com

"Y'know, for an unsigned band, The Chasm sure gets a helluva lot of press. Having appeared in both Metal Maniacs and Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles (that, alone, is more ink than some signed bands get!), this is a band whose reputation precedes it. Of course - like most reputations - opinion must be based at least in some measure of fact, and in The Chasm's case, my opinion (that this record slays) echoes the ultra-devoted praise of many of my peers. I've never been one of those who thinks that swearing is for the weak or non-creative, so holy fuckin' shit! This is good. Someone, go sign these guys.

Anata complete album recording

It's been a long time coming but we have finally received tracks from the forthcoming Anata album, due on Wicked World at the end of the year. The early listens have uncovered that the musical progression of the band from the previous 'Dreams of Death and Dismay' record is astonishing.

Whilst being firmly routed in the Death Metal field, the new material takes a multi-dimensional turn through blistering riff work and incredibly tight, compacted rhythms, and actually brings to mind the dissonance and complexity of the US noisecore scene! Fans should not fear however - the sound is firmly Death Metal, but such is the intensity and chameleon like nature of the songs that those appreciative of the more 'out there' aspects of the more technically challenging metal/noise bands that Anata could well be on their way to defining a whole new sound.

Early favorites include the savagely, hideously melodic cut-throat 'A Problem Yet to Be Solved', the caustic, shape-shifting 'Shackled to Guilt' and the instant foot-tapper 'Entropy Within'. Anata might just be the missing link between the older technical Death Metal bands of the mid-90's and the recent noisecore innovations...whatever this is, its breathing new direction and purpose into Death Metal.

More news on release dates and album titles to follow.
