Wildfires in Califorina.

(I posted this originally on the un-official Iron Maiden board: Maiden Fans United messageboard tonight a little while ago, b/c some people on there live in this area as well).

I am just wondering:

Is there anyone here on this messageboard that lives near or went through the wildfires burning in Southern California right now?

If so, are you alright? Are you safe? B/c, I know that the wind guests there are blowing the fire all over the countryside, and everything from San Deigo up to around L.A. is up in flames right now.

Just making sure that people on here are safe.

When I saw that on the news, I started getting concerned, b/c I knew that some people on this board lived near there, and I wanted to be sure they were alright.

I know that a lot of people around San Diego all went to the Chargers' stadium for a shelter from it all, b/c they were all evacuated from their houses b/c of the fast spreading fires.

It is nice to know that they are being taken care of there, but that must be rough not knowing if your house went up in flames or not, and having no way to find out.

On the news tonight, they showed a satellite view of Southern Califorina right now, and it looked like a storm system was coming in to the area, but that was not rain clouds, that was all the smoke and fumes from the wildfires.

From what I heard on the news tonight, they were saying that even if people come back to what is left of their houses, that they can't stay there long, b/c something about the area still being flamiable, and it could ignite again with just a simple spark or something like that.

From what I saw on TV tonight, the flames around Santa Ana were massive.

These were not just little flames. These flames were every bit as big as a skyscraper.

I can't imagine the almost literal Hell Inferno that the people in Santa Ana and San Diego are going through right now with this thing.

We are pretty safe in the area of San Diego we live in. Basically where the 163 and 8 meet is a good reference point.

Link to what is evacuated and burned.

We are far west of the fires and it would have to burn through some very densely populated areas to get here.

It is a nightmare though to witness.

Ladies, how are you and the various support team members faring?

Jim

yeah the extensiveness is pretty surreal huh - the governator has done a good job with organizing relief plans tho katrina was a big lesson in what not to do. hard to believe 1 million people, a whole city in most states, evacuated. what sucks is that some fires were arson started right after the malibu fire - way lame. regular tv programming has resumed so the bulk of it has passed; alot of people watched their homes go on t.v.
