Honestly haven't heard either, but as far as the books/poems are concerned I shall say "The Marriage..."

And of course, Ulver > B.D.

Books n Poems? Nope, this is a fight about albums. Its just that both albums have Blake's poetry.
And it is difficult to choose. Both albums are SO great.
"Marriages Of Heaven And Hell" is a more complete musical work.
"Chemical Wedding" is godly heavy metal.
But Dickinson has a more interesting approach in the lyrics part. If i am not mistaken, the Ulver album uses Blake's poetry as it is, while Bruce was just Blake - inspired, to write his own lyrics.
I dont vote for now.

OK, but hearing Ulver's Bergtatt (for example) still doesn't tell you much about their William Blake CD. So your vote has been disqualified you dirty simian. :loco:

Haven't heard but maybe 1 song from Chemical Wedding, but fucking christ man, Ulver is one of my all time faves.

Ulver.

Ulver.
And all this vegetable world appeared on my left foot
As a bright sandal, formed immortal of precious stones and gold
I stooped down, and bound it on
To walk forward through eternity...

CW is so good, I'd vote for it twice if I could. :loco: One of my top 10 albums of all time.....

Its like comparing apples and oranges, and very tasty ripe apples and oranges at that. I think Bruce's album is the best thing he and Adrian have ever done, and that included Maiden. Whereas Ulver's is so experimental and expansive, brimming with ideas and creativity, but never really coming together as a unified piece- which is either good or bad, considering your tastes.

One thing is for sure, Blake makes for excellent music. His somber poetry matches quite well with music.

Apparently there is a bonus track on the Japanese version of CW called "Return of the King". It was written by both Bruce & Adrian.

Anyone heard this?!!!

I've only heard the Ulver album, and it was cool the first couple of times, but then gets annoying (and it's far too long), so I vote for "None of the Above"

I saw this and thought wtf!? My dad's name is Bruce. :tickled:

So what does the Chemical Wedding have to offer outside of other traditional heavy metal releases? Reason I ask is most "classic" trad. metal albums I pick up, enjoy for 2 weeks, then never listen again. Is there anything that really makes this one stand up and fight, or something?

The long Ulver album in question is worth sitting through just for the first part of the second disc. SO AMAZING.

You know, I'm biased towards both artist and genre so I'll defer to someone else to provide that synopsis. Plus I'm in the office so I don't want to cream my pants writing about it at my desk.

Also, just noticed, "world peace 2008" rules man, it just rules. *sends white dove (with head intact) your way*
