So what does the Chemical Wedding have to offer outside of other traditional heavy metal releases? Reason I ask is most "classic" trad. metal albums I pick up, enjoy for 2 weeks, then never listen again. Is there anything that really makes this one stand up and fight, or something?
Oh... where to begin?

Much of it is slower than Maiden... although they still rock out a bit ("Crimson King", "Machine Men"), but on the whole I'd say the music is more complex and darker than Maiden. Wow... and the songwriting... Fuck man, just get it! It doesn't get old at all.

If you'd get on AIM, I'd send you "Jerusalem" and you'd have this thing ordered before the song was halfway through.

Could you email it to me? I don't have AIM at work or home anymore, because I hate them shits. horkin_fiber_chunks AT yahoo.com

Also, just noticed, "world peace 2008" rules man, it just rules. *sends white dove (with head intact) your way*
:tickled:

Perhaps the biggest selling point forAdrian is that it isn't as resolutely traditional as Maiden...while it has that instantly familiar sound, its often used in a more modern context and takes more chances than Steve Harris would be happy with.

It's conceptually very tight, definitely one of the best trad albums I've heard.

Ok
So i vote Ulver (although i like trad heavy metal much more than ulver-ish music)
Chemical Wedding is a heavy metal monument
but "Themes From William Blake's ...." is a monument for music in general.
