Never been a fan of anything like this, I miss the days when you could just say "Can we play?" and have a 20 minute opening slot if you were good enough. Nowadays it's not as simple.

You always have the chance, just ask X venue that's putting them on Y tour. Obviously it's not always that simple, but yeah.

I disagree with making a competition out of support slots, but I'll readily accept the fact that it's a pretty cool thing to do in a weird way.

That's all the music industry is anymore - a popularity contest. Though 'popularity' tends to equate to 'the band and all their friends rigging votes' in 90% of cases.
