The drummer for Wintersun was filling in for Swallow The Sun on their recent US tour. He mentioned that they were hoping to lineup a Ensiferum/Wintersun North American tour this spring/early summer.

I'm not a big fan of Wintersun but I can see a lot of people being excited about this addition. (Basically fans of Ensiferum and all things Finnish Viking Pop).

Greg - have you listened to Catamenia yet? Also Finnish Viking Pop.

Wintersun is awesome, I don't really hear any COB in them. I usually don't like this style of music either.

Nah, I really dig the wintersun album but I don't like Ensiferum. Wintersun has a shitload more balls i think, blastbeats and all that fun stuff. I can yousendit a track that pretty much shows they sound nothing like Ensiferum (or CoB for that matter) if anyone actually cares.

See, for something so polished and expensive sounding, I remember hating how they used a drum machine. Just blasting drums without anything to do with the song riffs. That said, I'll revisit for another try. \m/

I'm so sick of that damn album... Heard it 1 too many times. Finally managed to trade it off a bit ago.

I doubt I'd ever buy any of their albums, but at least they'd (probably) be a fun band to see live. A decent addition.

I wonder if he's the live drummer? Do you have a download or the original CD? I remember the liner notes saying all drums were programmed.

No idea where my actually copy of the CD is so I cant check (or remember), but all the info online says:

Jari Mäenpää - Vocals, Guitars, Bass and Synths
Kai "the grinder" Hahto - Drums

If you listen to some of his other stuff (Rotten Sound is the best example) the drumming style and production sounds nearly identical.
