WITTR - Black Cascade

Will be getting very soon. I thought Malevolent grain was okay, maybe a grower. I have high hopes for this.

Thinking about seeing them when they come to Boston with Krallice in May. Anyone going?

Black Cascade is rawer and conforms to black metal's standards more than their past works. Wolves uses more repetition of riffs than before, but they change little things about them, fully exploring each riff's musical potential. A sign of growth, I say. There are fewer ambient passages and little trace of the sound they showed on Malevolent Grain, but I don't think it hurts the album at all. I still love it. I've heard that some of this album was written for use in their upcoming live shows, which explains its straightforward sound (straightforward compared to other WITTR albums). Ahrimanic Trance is my favorite track so far. :kickass:

learn to search.

its no Two Hunters, but its not thaaaat bad. The 2009 EP was better, the last track on it is pretty baller though.

More repetition than before? I will lay down... blah blah blah has like 8 riffs max and its like 20 minutes long. Vastness in sorrow has maybe 4-5 riffs. Cleansing has like 5.

doesn't hold a candle to diadem or two hunters tbh. would have liked to seen them continue in the post-rock influenced direction rather than shift to more straightforward black metal stylings.

I just got both the Ep and Cascade in the mail and tonight I will enjoy both for the first time with a nice glass of Balvenie 12 year on the rocks.
