Hows the Central Station? We have a Big Knob here, but the CS with the remote looks very inticing. How many pairs can you hook up to it?

I'm probably going to get one of those in the kinda near future. It's that or mike, I mean the big knob. Is there anything the big knob can do that the central station can not?

I think main difference is that the Central Station is rackmountable, the Big Knob sits on your desk. I think they have the same kinds of inputs and outputs, except for the CS having ADAT input. The remote for the CS is just like the Big Knob though...it sits on your desk and has a 13-pin (if I remember correctly) plug going from it to the CS rackmount unit. I like the Big Knob though, it's a really neat thing to have laying around to control your moni's. I haven't used the Central Station, but everyone that gets one always has great things to say about it. Some say the Big Knob colors the sound a tad....but I haven't experienced this personally with the one we have, sounds the same as before, only easier to control all of our moni's than directly from the console's master and aux bus setup we had.

Well lets start by saying I had been monitering through a crap VLZ Mackie board. The Central Station was a huge breath of fresh air. It opened everything up big time. Like they say it lifited a huge blanket off my mixes. I picked the CS over the Big Knob because 1) I did not have room on my desk for it 2) I had a bad taste from the VLZ and 3) Sweetwater had a great deal on them (Free Remote). You can hook up 3 sets up to the CS and switch between any combination (including combining) with a flick of the button. I can't say enough how much I love this thing. It has great features and destroys my VLZ for monitering. Not saying the Big Knob is bad but I am so gald I picked the CS.
