working when your ears are messed up ie. infection/or any other symptoms

Best non-trolling thread in a while.

Surgery is to put a plastic tube piercing the eardrum, like the babies when have ear infections. I don't know anything in detail about it though but shouldn't be that risky.

Yeah, thats what they did to both of my ears when I was like younger than 3

Never stick a q-tip inside your external ear canal. I said never, it's extremely dangerous.

any other tips to clean earwax then?

I too have this problem. Let's figure out the lowest common denominator. Exposure to high spl? I'm fairly careful with my ears these days in terms of protection. Sedentary lifestyle? I was reading that high blood pressure can result in problems with hearing? I'm at a loss to what it could be. We all seem like young, healthy, fit guys who care about our hearing. Imbalance of pressure due to frequent flying? It's really been driving me nuts lately.

I had some major problems with this off and on a year or so ago. I looked up everything to try to help with it. trying the Valsava manoeuvre didn't help at first but I found that if you do the Valsava manoeuvre and tilt your head to the side slowly while you are blowing air you can get the pressure to go to one side and if you hold it there for a few seconds while keeping air pressure. it will let the ear canal stay open longer and drain.... then just repeat on the other side. I did this quite a few times a day until it cleared up and haven't had any problems in about a year now.

also there are some products like this http://www.eardoc.info/ .basically a vibrator that you hold behind your ear that will cause the ear canal to drain.

yeah i went completly deaf in one ear a few months back, really bad infection, i cudnt mix at all, had anti bacterial eardrops though from the doc so its all good,

i too had the plastic tubes in my ears when i was a kid, "vents" i think they are called, i didnt know though and when it fell out in school one day i was like "what?, aliens in my brains"

as for holding you nose and blowing i know it works in certain situation but after seeing my brother pop his ear drum doing it when we were younger, i think id rather avoid it,

advice would be to just relax and try no to over strain your ears for a few days, sometimes there is just nothing you can do about it :(

Anyways I'm not a doctor yet, so follow your doctor's instructions ;)

I've had this surgery five times, and it worked for me. However, I do have some scartissue on my eardrum due to the surgery which slightly decreases my hearing on that side.

Can you verify from personal experience whether the Ear Doc works?

I looked into it about a year ago, but it just seemed like a bit of a scam to me.

Fuck I knew someone was going to ask that, lmfao and my friends already laugh about this so I might as well spill the beans.

I thought it was probably a scam too and didn't want to waste $50 so....... I took my girlfriends pocket rocket and stuck it behind my ear and it did seem to work especially after i did the Valsava manoeuvre and got the ear canals to open up. seems like the vibration causes them to drain better. tilting my head to the side seemed to help while doing it too.... haha hope this helps.

Is anybody of you having TINNITUS problems? I have some in my right ear... sometimes I don't hear it for weeks, but currently it's getting on my nerves... PEEEEEEEEEEP....damn! :(

I read peroxide to breakdown the wax , does that work the same as olive oil?

I've also read it, but doctor's advice is to use olive oil, so don't even experiment with yourself

Tinnitus can be treated by a specialist with frequency treatments, they make your brain forget about the sounds by listening to certain other sounds. Also tinnitus can be caused by an excess of earwax pressing the eardrum, middle and inner ear infections, exposure to loud sounds... Again, this is an audio production forums, so better go to the doctor ;)
