would this guy fit OPETH better than axe.......?

no.

#1: axentrot is an awesome drummer.

#2: opeth's drumming has never been focused on unrealistic speed.

#3: i don't see whats so cool about shit loads of double bass. lopez used plenty of it, but it didn't sound like a fucking machine gun.

no, that guy would not fit in good with opeth at all. sounds like he fits fine with the band he's in.

hmm i hadn't listened to quo vadis before and now checked out a couple songs on youtube. the drummer is pretty impressive with speed, but his playing doesn't really grab me too much. the band could be better if they had a better vocalist and wrote more memorable songs rather than relying on their "oh i can play fast and without direction" formula. and what is with the half-naked chicks on the dvd?
i agree with tomas haake being a good match for opeth.

the Quo Vadis drummer's style of playing is to me something that would fit in a math metal band like dillinger escape plan or something. dont get me wrong, his drumming is good, but i found very little emotion in his playing.

his playing is certainly impressive but not unique or original

and is it just me or is anyone else here :erk:ed by triggered beats?

I like triggered drum sounds, but sometimes they really quite suck. I don't think triggered drums would necessarily fit with Opeth's music as well as micing up an acoustic kit. I record with electronic drums for simplicity, but if i had the space, money and time i would rather use miced up acoustics.

I definitely agree with everyone when they say Tomas Haake would be the better match. But quite frankly, i think Opeth are happy - they're found someone they clicked with and who can do the drumming they want..For them i bet it's a question of 'What more do we need?'.

I love Quo Vadis. But I don't think he would fit at all. Doesn't sound like he would have a clue as to how to play the emotional/slow parts.

Mike- "OHHHH....sleep my child..."
TRIGGER TRIGGER TRIGGER TRIGGER TRIGGER
Mike - "Knock it off".

"THIS FIRM EXIT WOUND...

...GRANT ME SLEEEEEEEEP! TAKE ME UNDER!!!!!"

haha yea that guys is nutz. He would fit any metal band, except maybe Opeth might have some trouble with hi cuz hes got short hair and he aint swedish(i think)

^It's a bit silly that people complain already before Axe has even had a chance to contribute to an Opeth album.
