would this guy fit OPETH better than axe.......?

I like triggered drum sounds, but sometimes they really quite suck. I don't think triggered drums would necessarily fit with Opeth's music as well as micing up an acoustic kit. I record with electronic drums for simplicity, but if i had the space, money and time i would rather use miced up acoustics.
.

Triggers are necessary if you're going to play at such breakneck speeds. Without them, your double bassing will just sound like a rumble or blur. All triggers do is separate the sound nicely and even it out, no matter how hard the drum is hit, it will sound the same. Thats how i understand it anyway....

With this in mind, i'd be extremely surprised if Lopez didnt use triggers???

thats true in regard to the bass drums, but triggering the snares really REALLY sucks

i agree, not enough hair and not enough jazzy feel. although the only thing people dislike about axe I would think is that he is more "BRUTALLL METALLL" than lopez was. although both styles feature the same things.

Lopez used triggers on Lamentations and on Deliverance. Are you guys retarded? It was Steve Wilson's idea anyway.

omfg i thought when i clicked on this it wasnt going to be a generic drummer......

because thats what would fit Opeth

Axe seems to be doing a fine job, i think hell find his groove soon. Im actually looking forward to the album to be because of a change in drummer. Not that lopez wasnt that man and not that he still isnt but you know something different is exciting.

random... your sig is the best thing ive ever seen.
I saw it on explosm and I had to have it. But whoever made the point about Lopez in Armon Amarth being different to his Opeth stuff.... good point, yeah. We'll just have to see what else Axe brings in the next album.
