Anyway, I did an interview with Woods... awhile ago and this was part of the interview:
L: Pursuit has been labeled “summer Black Metal” what do you say to this? And do you plan to continue to play in the new genre or branch out and play in new ways?
DG: I was the one to place the SBM tag on this CD because that’s exactly what I set out to create. Also, I tagged it like that simply to get people curious as to what ‘SMB’ would sound like. To me, “Summer Black Metal” is like “what would happen to” black metal ideas if they were to thaw out in the summer. “Pursuit of the Sun…” still the sadness as you might have in winter black metal, but without the majestic beauty of the snow to inspire you or the darkness to comfort you. Instead, it is meant to paint a picture of a time that is miserably humid, the sun is shining, there’s no where to hide and everyone can see you suffer. Instead of having cold and contained, sweet melodic riffs, the guitars are big, hot, fierce and imposing! Instead of clear thinking and peace that the cold winter air can provide, there is sweat and frustration, misery, chaos and agony.
"Pursuit..." was an experiment and is not at all indicative of any future direction. It is an expression of a collection of feelings set in a summer theme. They do not necessarily stand for any everlasting beliefs of mine, but instead they are based on specific ideas and/or often briefs moments or moods that have been experienced, and then dissected and expanded into song.
After we released the “Against the Seasons” demo, I started to write songs separately in a few different styles that were classified based on the mood. I chose ‘SMB’ as the next theme and I began to brainstorm ideas and sounds that I thought evoked the feelings of those hot, miserable summers.
There are many more themes that I plan to explore with Woods of Ypres in the future, but I would only ever reveal the theme of the next one at any time. The next album, Woods: III, will be a return to the cold Woods of Ypres sound.

What I am interested in is what became of that Bathory cover? I looked on the website and could not find the Woods cover on it...

So Dave... What happen to that?
If it didnt get accepted I say you just say screw them and just release an entire Bathory tribute yourself with you doing a bunch of songs, other songs on Krankenhouse, and just who ever wants to submit something. Get like Folkearth, Forefather, Falkenbach, maybe even summoning (now I want to hear a summoning cover of bathory...)? lets see... and some other famous names in folk metal and be like "here by my release!" and just own the tribute market. Yup... That would be awesome. You really should do that. And get like the End records to get their bands to help you out... I bet they would do that. It would just be a lot of emailing. "Hey Agalloch buddies... You like Bathory right? Hey Novermbers Doom, Guirella time Museum..." Hell yeah! I would do the work myself but I cant release shit. Oh well.
Also just so that those who are to lazy to click on a link and read this is what I am talking about: "Also, we will be recording the Bathory song “Lake of Fire” off of the “Destroyer of Worlds CD” for the Tribute to Quorthon being released by Germany’s Black Goat Productions. See
www.blackgoatproductions.de for more info!"
