WTF with Nuclear Blast 2008 band contest??

Funny, this thread started.
If you don´t like the business then maybe you like my band (at least the lyrics).
I wrote a lot of stuff about that. And could write a whole lot more but I think I won´t....

If you would like to get a deal it´s not good telling the guys that give you money they are complete dicks I guess...

It´s always the same if it´s about money (and that´s what it is if you are a professional) then nobody cares about how good your music is.
It´s important how good it sells.

When Sonic Syndicate won it back in 05/06 there were 6 months in between the contest finishing and them being announced. So it's probably going to be a while til we hear anything...

Slightly related, but I just read on a magazine that Roadrunner dropped Shadows Fall (I don't personally like them, but anyways..) because they apparently "only" sold 100 000 records, while their previous record sold 300 000 (on another label, nonetheless) :zombie: That's FUBAR.

It's a brutal business these days. The overhead that comes with a label and the kinds of expenses they assume for a typical album/tour cycle make it nearly impossible to turn a profit.
