Wuthering Heights To Travel Forevermore

To Travel Forevermore" is a foray into fantasy-based progressive power metal; the melodic, ever-shifting music includes frequent changes of time, acoustic and instrumental passages, classical/Spanish guitar touches, and of course regular shredding. A Danish band, Wuthering Heights comprises Erik Ravn on guitar, bass and keys, vocalist Kristian Andren (Tad Morose), guest bassist Lorenzo Dehó, guitarist Henrik Flyman, drummer Morten Sørensen and Rune S. Brink (keyboards). The vocals are all competently sung in a deeper power metal key, creating multiple catchy hooks and possessing a nice slightly raw tone. The drums are well performed, negotiating regular time changes with ease, while often synchronising with guitar breaks for added impact, and the bass is solid, if not always powerful. Well-integrated keyboards form a vital part of the music, at times intertwining with guitar and vocal work, as well as helping create a diverse sound often the tones and melodies ring of world influences. The guitars are very good, with classical acoustics helping to keep the music varied and shredding giving the music energy, while helping to create catchy melodies and epic lines.
Overall, "To Travel Forevermore" is an impressive release from a talented group of musicians that prog fans will love. Wuthering Heights music may well also attract those who dont usually enjoy the sound, as it forgoes the power metal screeching and is exceedingly catchy in places, making for an accessible album.
