what was the program you did instead of peace corps?

JVC--Jesuit Volunteer Corps.

it was pretty cool. i had some reservations, that it would be overly religious or dogmatic or something, but it turned out to be a really good mix of all sorts of things (for me....I guess everyone has a different idea of "overly").

I was in West Philadelphia...I worked for an advocacy group called the Philadelphia Unemployment Project (PUP)...I don't know why their webpage isn't currently working, but it's usually at http://www.philaup.org.

JVC is big at Jesuit universities with a strong volunteer community, but probably a little obscure outside of that...

yeah...Boston College! and the year i went, i think we had the highest percentage of volunteering undergrads in the country. props to free work!
