they talked about it on the news today. I pretty much agree, Pluto is more of an asteroïd than a planet. If we had kept the same old definition of a planet, we would end up with a hundred planets in our solar system by the end of the century.

Wow, Pluto's officially been classified as a planet since 1930. I also saw this on the news this morning.

On a related note, has anyone else heard that Mars is supposed to be seen in the sky as big as the moon at the end of the month? And any word on whether that's valid?

hahahahahah yeah I saw that Mars email going around, and keep hearing passersby talk of it.

For starters, I find it preposterous that anyone believed it would be as big as the moon, so I researched for any validity for Mars having a closer orbit than normal, at least.

And.... well...... in 2003 Mars' orbit actually was closer than typical, but any size difference would not be visible to the naked eye! That much is guaranteed without having researched distances and such. Seemingly this is when the email started, and now it has escalated to it being what it is now.
