Just putting it out there - in the past couple of years, Disturbed has had some really solid tunes, and I find them very unique and identifiable, which is definitely a good quality IMO! Granted, because of how mainstream/pop oriented they are, a lot of the songs on their albums (well, 10,000 Fists anyway, the only full album of theirs I have) are the short, forgettable throwaway type that were clearly meant to be singles but didn't make the cut, but when they're on, I dunno, I dig 'em!

Oh man, my housemate had played me a particular tune a few months ago that I fucking loved, and I just found it again, damn ("The Night") - so good!

I've been listening to them for several years now and yes, they have very cool tunes. I enjoy listening to their stuff.

My only gripe is that all their songs sound extremely similar. Not per se once you heard one you've heard them all...but it does get pretty monotonous.

Yeah, that I have no doubt of, it's what I was talking about in the OP with the whole pop orientation (though of course there have been some pop-oriented bands that keep every song on an album fresh and unique, e.g. Journey's "Raised on Radio," one of my all-time top 10 favs!) But they can definitely put out some quality!

This album needs a heavier guitar tone though, too rock, not enough gain, especially evident in the thrashy prechorus in "The Night" :waah:

Nice speech, bad stage presence

I get really nostalgic over their older songs...down with the sickness, violence fetish, fear, stupify, prayer...the new stuff doesn't really do it for me.

*edit*

Only exception is the intro to inside the fire, that glitched laugh gives me a hardon

Eventhough they're mainstream to a certain extent I've always felt like they dont get the credit they deserve. I picked up their first album like two weeks after it came out and I remember thinking, here's a band thats not afraid to be original. Plus I've always thought the lead singer vocally reminded me of a metal phil collins, which no one ever agreed with me on.

Very rarely do bands still interest me as they progress but they still suprise me with every new release. "Haunted" is my favorite track off their new album but i still bump "The Game" a lot. That ranks up their with some of my all time favorite tracks.

Disturbed WAS pretty cool :(
Love their old stuff, they dissapointed me bigtime when I saw them last year - I'm going to check them out again in 1½ weeks and I'm hoping for something better!

i've wanted to like Disturbed more than i do, but though I try, they end up being a one trick pony to me. every song on the album sounds the same. i put a cd in and before i realize it, i'm on track #7 and i thought it was just #3. but dont get me wrong, i do really dig their older stuff and like the fact that they started bringing guitar solos to more of their tracks on the "Indestructible" album

I would have liked them a lot more if the singer would not have ever done the "ooh wa ah ah ah" nonsense. That was a definite deal-breaker for me and it was hard for me to take them seriously even though I dug the guitar riffs.

Yeah, but he banished that gimmick long ago!

I've been loving this band.

I like a lot of music from their genre and the "NU Metal crowd"

And for the record,
Dan Donegan is NASTTTTYYYYYY live. Absolutely spot on so much it was scary.
